Duck races set at Langendorf Park

BARRINGTON – Families can have a good time and benefit Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.

Hospice of Northeastern Illinois will host a Duck Race and Pool Party event Saturday, Aug. 15, at Langendorf Park in Barrington. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

Participants can enjoy activities including open swimming, face painting, hair braiding, and games, as well as DJ entertainment, food and balloon artists. Mr. Duck also will make an impressive entrance and then hang out, meet guests, and pose for pictures.

During the popular Duck Race, hundreds of plastic ducks sail down the pool’s slides in races. The ducks are numbered, and the winning duck wins prizes for its “adopted owners.” More than 100 prizes will be awarded.

The ducks can be bought in “flocks” of 25 for $100; “families” of six for $25; and individually for $5.

“VIDs,” or Very Important Ducks, will compete in their own special race and are available for $250 each, with the winning duck earning $1,000 in cash for its owner.

Ducks can be bought before the event on the Hospice’s Web site at www.HospiceAnswers.org or on the day of the event.

For information on buying a duck or becoming a sponsor, contact Michelle Sacchitello at MSacchitel lo@HospiceAnswers.org or 847-381-5599, ext. 246.
