Waukegan basketball star charged with felonies

WAUKEGAN – Jereme Richmond, former Waukegan High School and University of Illinois basketball star, was arrested Aug. 8 on charges that include aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, battery, disorderly conduct, possession of a firearm and assault, said Waukegan Police Commander Gabe Guzman.

Richmond, 19, was one of several young men arrested in the incident, Guzman said. Three others were arrested following the incident, in which a gun was found in the car driven by the four individuals, Guzman said. Two of the other individuals were released without charges, while the third, Matthew Riley, 22, of North Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm, Guzman said.

As of Aug. 12, Richmond had bonded out of the Lake County Jail ahead of his next scheduled court date on Thursday, Aug. 18, according to Lake County Jail records.
