Some fireworks displays canceled due to drought
Due to drought-like conditions in Lake County, The Round Lake Area and Wauconda Fourth of July fireworks display have been been been canceled.
The Round Lake Area Park District has rescheduled its event Sept. 2, 2012.
"Ultimately, the permits go through the fire department and because of the drought, we were not issued a permit. It's unfortunate that there hasn't been a substantial amount of rain," said Frank Palmisano, RLAPD recreation program manager.
