Naturally speaking: Bird sings on wing and wears reverse tuxedo

It’s a rollicking, tinkling sound. It’s a bubbly, gurgling sound. It’s like heavenly angels playing the harp.

That’s how the song of the bobolink has been described by my birding friends. But they would likely agree with me that none of those descriptions do the song justice.

You’ve got to go hear it, and the best place I know in Lake County to listen to bobolinks is at Rollins Savanna in Grayslake.
