When words (and all else) fail
“We need a new pigeon,” my husband said. That sentence sounded odd, to say the least.
The No. 1 reason for its peculiarity: We never had an OLD pigeon.
Two: Why would a person need a pigeon for any purpose unless, of course, one wanted to raise it for whatever it is pigeons do besides leave their droppings everywhere.
