LAKE VILLA – This September, the Lake Villa Historical Society will not step back in time to Union and Confederate flags, gunshots, artifacts and pancakes with President Lincoln. Instead, the organization will  make plans to step forward into its new home at 223 Lake St. in Lake Villa.

The annual Civil War Days at the Lehmann Mansion would be celebrating its 10th year. The decision to cancel the event was not easy, but necessary, according to Lake Villa Historical Society President Sue Cribb. The Civil War Days, originally hosted by the Lake Villa Fine Arts Council, was later passed on to the Lake Villa Historical Society after it was founded. 

With 80 households as members since its opening in 2003, the Lake Villa Historical Society remains a  small organization, and financing such large events has proven to be an issue for the group.
