Video gaming up for vote in village

ANTIOCH – Antioch village officials will vote Sept. 17 on two ordinances that will either allow or prohibit liquor-serving businesses to install video gaming machines.

On the table are the financial benefits individual businesses as well as the village could reap, and the overall effect gambling can have in the community.

Village trustee George Sakas said passing the ordinance could create more problems than what the revenue is worth.  “More money is good but gambling in the village may not be so good,” Sakas said. “We’ll need to look at the unintended consequences.”
