Antioch public garden feeds hungry, adds beauty

Now it can be told why some gardeners find snail shells in their soil.

With Antioch’s public garden plot harvests well underway, the benefits of the gardener’s toil in soil are evident not only to themselves but also to the residents of the community.

The 40 weeded and watered garden plots planted by residents at Orchard and Depot streets display a variety of flower and vegetable combinations, support structures for carefully tended tomatoes and beans, and a variety of expectations for fresher meals at home.
