Craft beer keeps Tighthead owner, patrons happy

MUNDELEIN – Home for Bruce Dir is in an industrial park across from the Mundelein Metra station. That’s where he offers up quality homemade craft beers five days a week to scores of new friends.

He’s the owner of Tighthead, and it may as well be his home. Working roughly 16 hours daily, Dir nevertheless wears a perpetual smile, whether cleaning beer glasses, pouring offerings or talking  with his new friends about their shared passion: beer.

A Mundelein resident for sixteen years, Dir has been involved with brewing for closer to twenty. “I worked in the corporate world for twenty years until seven years ago I was let go in a re-organization. Another position came along, and three years later I was re-organized again. My wife told me I should follow my dream and do what Ioved. Little did she know I’d take her up on it.”
