LIBERTYVILLE – Libertyville Manor on June 18 hosted a special Father’s Day event.

More than 50 residents, friends and family members were in attendance.

After a barbecue in the atrium, everyone was greeted by a special guest. Gander, the National Service Dog of the Year, and his companion Lon Hodge, an Army veteran who is recovering from PTSD, made a presentation explaining their backgrounds.

The highlight of the afternoon was Gander and Hodge visiting with the guests, much to their delight.

Hodge presented the six veterans in attendance with bags of coffee provided by Hansa Coffee Roasters of Libertyville, which spearheads a special program that Hodge and Gander are part of supporting veterans.
