Gurnee club selects Rotarian of the Year

GURNEE –  Each year, the members of the Rotary Club of Gurnee select one of their peers as Rotarian of the Year based on his or her outstanding participation in community events and support to the club.

For 2008, that honor goes to Rhonda Harden, director of branch operations for Community Trust Credit Union. She also serves as treasurer of the Rotary Club of Gurnee.

“I am amazed and honored to have been selected as Rotarian of the year because there are so many actively involved members of our club,” Harden said in a release.

The Rotary Club of Gurnee was chartered on April 22, 1988, to support community events and local charities. It currently has a membership of over 62 local business leaders.

Since 1993, the club has held an annual charity auction and dinner with proceeds dispersed between more than 25 local charities. In addition to providing vocational scholarships to local high school students, the Rotary Club of Gurnee also has been active in the foreign exchange program, sponsoring numerous inbound/outbound students to/from other countries.
