Crafters to sell items

The Grayslake Park District will host its Fall Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Grayslake Park District Rec Center. A wide variety of crafters will have their wares displayed for sale. Vendors are being sought.

Residents invited to participate in golf tournament

Parent/junior (ages 8 through 14 ) golf teams are invited to compete in a handicap golftournament from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 6, at the Grayslake Golf Course.

A “colored” ball contest will be held, with each team having one player required to use the “colored” ball. Additional contests will include closest to the pin, longest putt and a junior challenge. Fees include golf, prizes and refreshments. Cost is $25 a two-person team. Teams are asked to register by Sept. 1.

Junior Fall Golf League open to kids

The Grayslake Park District Junior Fall Golf League is for kids ages 8 through 14. Each week will feature events and prizes.

Each golfer will be responsible for paying the normal greens fees each week. The program will meet from 4 to 9 a.m. Saturdays from Sept. 13 to Oct. 4 at the Grayslake Golf Course.  Cost is $20 plus green fees each week. Golfers are asked to register by Aug. 30.

Youth Volleyball League open to children

This league offers girls and boys in grades three through eight the opportunity to learn and play the game of volleyball.

Teams will practice one evening a week (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday), with matches on Saturdays. Teams begin practicing the week of Sept. 15. Games will be played Sept. 27 through Nov. 15. All players must attend an evaluation on either Sept 3 or Sept 4 (third- and fourth-graders from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.; fifth- and sixth-graders from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.; and seventh- and eighth-graders:  7:15-8:15 p.m.).

Evaluations will be held at Frederick School, 595 Frederick Road, Grayslake. Cost is $80 for residents and $100 for nonresidents. The deadline to register is Aug. 30.

Corn maze to host evening event

Students in sixth through ninth grade are invited to walk through the 22-acre Richardson farm corn maze in Spring Grove the evening of Oct. 24. The trip will be fully chaperoned. Participants will meet at the Grayslake Park District Rec Center.

Cost is $20 for residents and $25 for nonresidents. The registration deadline is Sept. 10.   

Harvest Moon Campfire 

Come spend a fun evening with family and friends, enjoying campfire stories, making s’mores and singing campfire songs.

This event is for all ages and will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 26 at Central Park. The hay wagon will pick up participants at the Aquatic Center parking lot near the baseball field.  Cost is $7 for residents and $9 for nonresidents. Interested parties are asked to register by Sept. 12.
