Before classes at Fox Lake Grade School District 114 ended last month, some lucky students saw their classrooms get a major makeover.

Students at both Stanton School and Lotus School saw their classrooms transformed thanks to the help of representatives from Smart Schools – a Florida-based organization that assists schools with development training, on-site demonstrative modeling and development of supporting instructional materials.

A team of educations from Smart Schools visited the schools in May to assist teachers and staff members with the makeovers. The hope is to create the optimum learning environment for students.

The makeovers mark the culmination to a three-year long grant funded project designed to change instructional techniques in reading for teachers and to foster better reading skills in students.
