Lake County Fair loaded with fun

Motocross.

Main stage acts.

Beer gardens.

A battle of the bands.

Rodeos.

Rides.

The Lake County Fair Queen Pageants.

Livestock shows.

Scavenger hunts.

And so much more.

The 2010 Lake County Fair features all of the above and – yes, believe it or not – so much more.
This year’s fair started July 27 and will continue through Sunday, Aug. 1. It is taking place at the new fairgrounds, located at Peterson and Midlothian roads in Grayslake.

General admission to enter the fair is $10. Discounts apply for children, seniors and members of the military.

To learn more about the fair, turn to pages three, four and five of this week’s Lake County Journal.
Reporters Meital Caplan and Colin Selbo worked with photographer Candace Johnson for our cover story about the event.

Meital attended the opening day of the fair and interviewed fair officials and attendees for her story. Colin, meanwhile, spoke with those who prepared the fairgrounds for a behind-the-scenes look at the six-day event.

And the fair coverage does not stop there.

On page four is where you can read reporter Stephanie Lehman’s Q-and-A interview with Dave DeYoung, president of the Lake County Fair Association.

“It’s good, wholesome entertainment,” DeYoung says of the Lake County Fair in Stephanie’s story. “The fair board, the directors and the staff just try to bring nothing but quality entertainment and exhibits that are for the whole family ... I think it’s just a great big party.”

With so much entertainment, it’s hard to argue that the fair is not a great big party.

I hope all of this year’s fair attendees, organizers and participants have an excellent and safe time.
